So, in mid-July I went on Weight Watchers after the Dateable Dork’s success with the program. WTG, DD! Here’s a mini-update from me:
I am 5’3″ and had a starting weight of 147. I’m now at 132 and have gone from wearing a size 8 (which were tight) to wearing a size 6 (which are very loose). I have been participating in a collaborative research study on walking for the last 6 months, and as a part of their data collection I get a physical every 3 months. I just had my most recent one and was told that I’ve lost 4% bodyfat since June. Without exercise. I look so good my boyfriend now gets hard just from looking at me and has been actively encouraging me to look at engagement rings.
I have joined the campus gym and been attending yoga and pilates class regularly. Hooray! I found out I will be able to invoice for my freelance project this week and have a big, fat $2500 check coming, part of which will go to buy a bike – and it’s been getting noticeably cooler around these parts, so I expect to actually be able to use it! Heaven.
In no-scale victories (NSV), I have moved 3 pairs of work pants and 4 pairs of jeans which are now too big to wear to the closet in my spare bedroom. I have also brought 5 pairs of pants, 1 pair of jeans, and 3 bathing suits out of retirement, and bought 3 new pairs of work pants in a smaller size. I estimate I am about 5 pounds away from about 5 more pairs of jeans – I can get into them now, but still have a bit of a muffin top. I could definitely get away with them in a loose shirt, though. I will soon be undergoing a similar assessment of my shirts. My bust size has decreased slightly but I am still wearing a 36D.
I have also probably tripled my fruit and vegetable intake (which, considering I’m vegetarian, surprised me a bit) and am contemplating going vegan in 2010. I’m phasing in things now as much as I can, and we’ll see how it goes. DD has talked a little bit about missing eating like a normal person, but – for me, now every time I even glance at a processed carb I feel like crap (with the exception of the tortillas that I use to make vegetable wraps for lunch).
I’ve gone from at least 3 beers per night to mostly none/maybe one. Like the processed carbs (which, actually beer is) I feel like ass the next day if I have even two. I’m also sleeping better, and the persistent crick in my neck has gone away. All of my coworkers and Jake (who has probably gained 10-15 pounds since we met) are insanely jealous. It’s great!
If you’re jealous too, leave a comment below. Then check out these fine posts:
